Mitigasi.com provides early-warning and disaster information for Indonesia. We only collect the data needed for that purpose and never sell data to anyone.

Device location

  • Location-based notifications (if you turn it on): your location is rounded to ±1 km and stored with the notification token to choose relevant warnings, such as earthquakes near you. It is updated when the app is opened, at most once every 6 hours.
  • Report an incident: the device GPS position when sending a report is used to check whether the reporter is near the incident, so false reports can be filtered out. Only admins can see it; it is never shown publicly.
  • Location is not tracked in the background. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.

Notifications

  • To send notifications we store your device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google), the warning types, and your chosen provinces. No name, email, or phone number is needed.
  • Notifications can be turned off on the Notifications or in your device settings; the token will be deactivated.

Citizen reports

  • Report content (incident type, title, description, location, and photo) is shown publicly after admin verification.
  • Before a photo is processed, its original metadata (camera GPS location, capture time, camera make/model, editing app, size) is read and stored to help admins verify the report; only admins can see it and it is never shown publicly. The stored and displayed photo is resized, stripped of all metadata, and watermarked by Mitigasi.
  • Name and phone number are optional, used only if the admin needs to confirm, and never shown publicly.
  • IP addresses are stored as hashes to prevent spam.

Visit statistics

We record anonymous visit statistics (pages opened, region, device/browser type) to understand how the site is used.

The region is taken from the device GPS only if you have already allowed location for mitigasi.com (for example through "Use my location", Report an incident, Live, or Evacuation Points). We never ask for location permission just for statistics. Coordinates are rounded to ±1 km on your device and converted into a regency/city and province name; the exact position is not stored. Without location permission, the region is estimated from the IP address.

Third parties

  • Google Firebase (notification delivery), map providers OpenStreetMap, Esri, and NASA GIBS (map imagery), and Google Fonts.
  • Disaster data comes from BMKG, PVMBG (MAGMA Indonesia), BNPB, NASA FIRMS, PetaBencana.id, and Open-Meteo.

Videos & YouTube

Some videos on mitigasi.com are stored on the mitigasi.com YouTube channel and played through the YouTube player. For this, mitigasi.com uses YouTube API Services. The YouTube player only loads after you press play; before that no data is sent to YouTube.

By playing these videos you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. mitigasi.com only accesses its own YouTube channel (to upload videos and read their status) and never accesses visitors' YouTube accounts or data. The access grant is stored securely on the server and can be revoked by the operator at any time through Google security settings.

Retention & deletion

Notification tokens that are no longer valid are deactivated. To request deletion of your report or device data, contact us at [email protected] or through the Report feature quoting your report code, or turn off notifications on your device.

Limitations

Information on Mitigasi.com is supplementary and may be delayed. Always follow official instructions from BMKG, BNPB/BPBD, and local government. In an emergency, call the local fire brigade, ambulance, police, or BPBD.
